Therese Serman

You can't help but feel happy after meeting with Therese Serman. She greets you with a big smile and an invitation for a hug, even if it’s the very first time you’ve met. She describes herself as a glass-half-full kind of person, and it shows. 

Therese works as a Senior Commercial Manager at Resurs, where she handles several of our merchants in the furniture industry. But her journey with us began within leadership, as Team Lead for a group of Commercial Associates. 

– It’s been quite a journey during the five years I’ve been here, and I’ve learned an incredible amount - especially about leadership and how we work with it at Resurs. In a way, it feels like I’ve been at Resurs forever! 

Today her focus is on collaborating with the merchants 
to ensure that the products and solutions Resurs offer are profitable and generate value for both merchants and paying customers. A lot of time is spent with merchants in their stores, understanding what works well and where support is needed.  

- Being on site also creates the opportunity to meet the salespeople who are expected to sell these solutions every day. Ultimately, it is the people on the shop floor who drive the results. 

Resurs does not aim to be just a supplier, but rather a true partner. For Therese, this is reflected in every interaction with stakeholders. She has a strong belief in building
relationships, because strong relationships are what ultimately drives business.

- I am motivated by building strong trust with my partners, knowing that they have confidence in both me and in Resurs. I am also extremely competitive; seeing work turn into real results and finding successful solutions together with partners energizes me.  

It’s all in the people 

There are many ingredients to a great workplace, but for Therese, the human connection is number one. It’s her driver and her energy. 

– I feel good when I’m around people, and I love relationships. Whether it’s with customers, colleagues, or team members. That personal connection matters so much to me. 

Cultural values are another big deal for Therese, especially when you’re navigating challenging times. Not only the softer side of how you treat each other but also having a clear vision that turns words into action. And here, she believes Resurs has found a strong balance between the two. 

– There’s a positive vibe here, and the people are fantastic; skilled, smart, and genuinely great to be around. 
I’m often impressed by the level of competence, and by how much you can learn. It’s the colleagues who make this company what it is. 

Get yourself a side mission 

Another part of the Resurs culture that Therese appreciates is that things are always happening; both in the business and socially. She loves that there are opportunities to take on assignments outside your core role. 

– My motto has always been that you own your own career. You have to say what you want, otherwise no one will know. And if you do, there are so many fun things you can get involved in at Resurs beyond your day-to-day role. That’s one of the things I really love about this company. 

Therese has, among other things, helped host an All-hands staff company meeting and she’s also involved in the Resurs Social Club, which organizes all the (festive) employee events. She’s especially proud of the Winter Party that was held in January; it was “top notch” if you ask her. 

A (not so hidden) talent 

That Therese likes to have fun is no secret, especially when she gets to be on stage and perform. While she enjoys hosting presentations and trainings at work, it’s even more exciting when the spotlight includes singing and dancing. That might be why Therese absolutely LOVES karaoke. 

– If I could live my life over, I’d be a musical theatre performer, Therese says with a laugh. 

So at the next office party, you know where to look if you want to find Therese (in the Karaoke room). Or simply follow the positive vibes at the office, and you’ll probably get there.
