Building the foundation of Resurs’ future
Sandrine Wallisson’s first chapter at Resurs began in 2016. After a detour into a music tech startup, Resurs once again came into the picture in 2024. She decided to return since the future of the company looked bright.
– I was contacted by CTO Pär Isaksson, a former colleague from my time at Klarna. What really stood out to me was the direction the company was heading in and the way the management team works together. They’re very aligned, experienced, and share the same mindset.
When Sandrine returned to Resurs for the second time, she brought with her more than 15 years of experience from banking and fintech but also a clear sense of purpose.
Today, Sandrine works as Engineering Director for Platform Services at the engineering department at Resurs. Within platform services teams that build shared capabilities across core banking, data, payments, and new initiative collaborate.
– Our role is to enable all our products. We build the foundation that others build on, and that makes our work both challenging and incredibly rewarding, says Sandrine.
Solving problems together
Collaboration is a recurring theme when Sandrine talks about how challenges are tackled.
– Sometimes we create small task forces. An engineer from another team might step in for a period of time. It builds relationships, spreads knowledge, and helps people understand the bigger ecosystem.
There’s also a strong focus on learning fast and validating assumptions early.
– We prefer to test, learn, and adjust rather than building something big and realising too late that we were heading in the wrong direction.
This way of working doesn’t just lead to better solutions; it also helps people grow.
– When you work cross-functionally, you develop both professionally and personally. You understand how your work fits into the whole, and collaboration becomes easier over time.
Looking ahead: data, AI, and new ways of working
Sandrine sees several technological shifts shaping the future of Resurs, from cloud transformation to the new core banking platform. And of course, AI.
– These changes will give us greater speed and resilience. But for me, data is just as critical.
She believes that a strong data platform, combined with AI, will unlock entirely new possibilities from better decision-making and improved customer experiences to more automated workflows across the bank.
– AI is moving incredibly fast. Just in the past six months, we’ve seen huge developments. This affects not only what we build, but how we work, our development lifecycle, how we retain knowledge, and how we ensure security.
Equally important is helping people get started.
– A lot of it is about learning and inspiration. Once someone sees a concrete use case, it sparks ideas. That’s how momentum builds.
Why Resurs?
If Sandrine had one minute to convince a brilliant engineer to join Resurs, her message would be both clear and personal.
– There are three reasons I came back. First, I truly believe in the strategy and the direction we’re heading. I’m inspired by the journey and motivated to help turn it into reality.
Second, it’s about leadership.
– We have the right people in the right roles. The management team brings deep experience, works closely together, and truly understands the importance of solid technical foundations.
And finally; the people.
– There’s a high level of trust here. People are skilled, helpful, and generous with their knowledge.
Then she adds: – We’ve managed to gather some of the best tech talent in the Nordics and we’re doing it as a team.
About Sandrine Wallisson
Engineering Director
Started working at Resurs: 2016 as a project manager before moving onto an Engineering manager. After a brief period outside of Resurs Sandrine came back to Resurs 2024.
Fun fact: Sandrine is somewhat of a karaoke queen.
She also traveled a lot at work when she came to Sweden and has probably visited more cities in Sweden than most Swedes.
