If you want to have fun at work, you should work with Financial Crime Prevention. That is what Josefine Falk, Senior FCP Investigator at Resurs, thinks. Her job is about more than what meets the eye – and that is often where the most exciting part begins.

Financial Crime Prevention, or FCP, is about preventing, detecting and counteracting financial crime – such as money laundering and fraud. In a bank, FCP work is crucial, both to protect customers and society, and to ensure that the bank meets the high standards of the industry.

At Resurs, the FCP department is growing. At the same time, the field is constantly changing, with new rules and guidelines to relate to, and it can be hard to keep up with every turn. For Josefine, that is part of the charm.

- You really want to work with FCP at Resurs right now. It is challenging, but in a fun way. If you handle the constant changes well, as we really are right now, it becomes incredibly rewarding to work in FCP – because you get to be part of driving the development forward.

From a student company to the world of banking

Josefine joined Resurs in 2025 as a consultant. With experience from a major bank, a niche bank and a start-up, she quickly connected with both the organisation and the work itself. When the opportunity to become an employee came along, the decision was an easy one.

- Resurs is an organisation that feels familiar, where you feel at home. That was unusual for me, that it can feel that way when there are 900 employees.

But the path to FCP began long before Resurs. In fact, it may have started already in high school, when Josefine ran the student company Miss Strö, which produced sustainable, flavoured breadcrumbs.

The company did so well that it was named Stockholm’s best student company. That led, among other things, to Swedbank’s communications department contacting Josefine and asking whether she could give a presentation to the bank’s 120 most senior executives.

- Of course I said yes, at 16 years old, Josefine says with a laugh.

The presentation also became her way into the world of banking. Josefine was offered a job in their customer service team, where she started working the day after graduation.

A multifaceted profession

A number of years later, Josefine is still in the financial industry, but now with a focus on FCP at Resurs. The varied work and the opportunity to continuously familiarise herself with new types of cases suit her well.

- There is so much you can do within FCP. If you are curious about investigations and want to understand money laundering, there is not just one role with us, but many different paths within an FCP organisation. It can involve everything from assessing which customers we should welcome into the bank, reviewing transactions among our existing customers, to carrying out regular follow-ups of different customer groups.

One thing that Josefine feels stands out about Resurs, and one of the reasons she enjoys working there, is the flat organizational structure.

- The steps to making changes and improvements are very short here. You do not need to escalate different improvement suggestions five or six times to get approval. If you see something that could be improved and have a proposed solution, it does not have to take many days before it is set in motion.

She also appreciates the open culture. At Resurs, you can have a chat with the CEO by the coffee machine, just like with any other colleague.

- In some organizations, it really is not like that. The CEO is not as accessible there.

A team that sticks together – regardless of location

The FCP team at Resurs is split between Stockholm and Skåne. Josefine works from the Stockholm office, but she does not feel that the distance is particularly noticeable in everyday work. On the contrary, she describes a team that actively works to build a sense of togetherness and closeness, even though colleagues are based in different locations.

- We are very keen to do activities together, so that we actually get to meet and build a group that does not feel scattered. We are also committed to helping each other and being available to one another every day.

Fun fact

Josefine usually spends most of her summer travelling around Sweden – together with her dog Troja and a rooftop tent. Among other places, she has camped at the very top of Idre Fjäll, which, by the way, is her favourite place – so far.
